The Capitol Hill Community Foundation awards grants to non-profit organizations, schools and other neighborhood groups in support of programs and projects that benefit residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood (the area from the U.S. Capitol to RFK Stadium, and from Florida Avenue, NE to the Anacostia River).  Grants are made in the following areas: Children’s education – programs in schools as well as after-school tutoring and mentoring; Social Services; Arts, culture and recreation for children and adults; Enhancement of the physical environment.   Tyler Elementary is proud to have been the recipient of several grants from CHCF over the years to support various parent and teacher initiatives!! 

The Children’s Defense Fund is a non-profect child advocacy organization that provides a strong, effective and independent voice for all the children of America who cannot vote, lobby or speak for themselves. They pay particular attention to the needs of poor and minority children and those with disabilities. CDF educates the nation about the needs of children and encourages preventive investments before they get sick, drop out of school, get into trouble or suffer family breakdown.  It is a great resource to find ways to effectively lobby legislators regarding issues affecting children and families.
