Library

Our library offers many wonderful resources for our students and faculty at Tyler to take advantage of. Students have access to the library’s physical resources once a week during their library media special period. Students from 2nd-5th grade can check out a book for home while K-1st grade students can check out books to use in their classroom. PreK to 1st grade may check out a book for home when accompanied by a parent or guardian Tuesday mornings from 8:15 – 8:30am. There are no fines for overdue materials, but the school does ask for donations to replace lost or damaged items if possible.

Access Tyler’s Library Catalog

Students can access the library’s catalog via their Clever Login. Under the ‘Library Resources’ heading, click on the Follett Destiny Discover application to browse both our physical and digital collection, including audio and eBooks.

Access Audio and eBooks on Sora

Sora, our online reading platform, can also be accessed in Clever under the ‘Library Resources’ heading. Check out both audio and eBooks instantly from any computer or mobile device twenty-four seven. First-timers, our school’s name is DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Students can also add the District of Columbia Public Library’s (DCPL) catalog of audio and e-book resources to their Sora account, with a free DCPL library card.

Clever Library Resources

There are several research applications and websites available to our students in Clever under the ‘Library Resources’ heading. Whether students are interested in researching a topic on Britannica School or finding open access images for their next school project on Smithsonian Open Access, I am happy to support teaching these tools and effective search strategies.
